China's Olympic champion Women's Volleyball team has returned to China after capturing gold in Rio.
Head coach Lang Ping says their return to the top of the podium is a reward for the team's years of hard work.
"We had been preparing for it for four years and we trained especially hard this year. We held a lot of confined training sessions in order to achieve a breakthrough and to prepare for the US and Brazilian teams because these two teams are really strong. If you want to get a medal, you have to defeat one of these teams. So we paid more attention to those games, especially from the quarterfinals."
While China wasn't forced to take on the United States, the squad did eliminate defending champions Brazil on their home turf, denying the hosts a 3rd straight Olympic title.
Lang Ping says she's not going to give her team much time to bask in the success from Rio.
"I think that as soon as the athletes walked down from the podium it was time to start preparing for the next game. Talking about big goals, it will be the next Olympic Games, the Tokyo Olympic Games."
